Performed by the University of Pretoria Camerata, conducted by Dr. Michael Barrett. Sleep Sleep tonight And may your dreams Be realized If the thundercloud Passes rain So let it rain Rain down on him Mmm, mmm, mmm So let it be Mmm, mmm, mmm So let it be Sleep Sleep tonight And may your dreams Be realized If the thundercloud Passes rain So let it rain, let it rain Rain on him MLK is a short, pensive piece written as an elegy to Martin Luther King Jr. This piece, made famous by Irish rock band U2, is a sweet, hymnal tune that speaks volumes in its simplicity. King's inspiring message and groundbreaking work during the American Civil Rights Movement is something we can all look up to and remember on this Day of Reconciliation.

Alone in the night On a dark hill With pines around me Spicy and still, And a heaven full of stars Over my head White and topaz And misty red; Myriads with beating Hearts of fire The aeons Cannot vex or tire; Up the dome of heaven Like a great hill I watch them marching Stately and still. The Crown of Roses - Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky

Performed by the University of Pretoria Camerata, conducted by Dr. Michael Barrett. The piece “The Crown of Roses” is a hauntingly beautiful retelling of the life and crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The words are based on the poem "Roses and Thorns" by American poet Richard Henry Stoddard, originally published in Graham's Magazine of May 1856. The poem was included in Pleshcheyev's anthology Snowdrop (Подснeжник; 1878), where it was found by Tchaikovsky. The words read: When Jesus Christ was yet a child He had a garden small and wild Where-in he cherished roses fair And wove them into garlands there Now as the summertime drew nigh There came a troop of children by And seeing roses on the tree With shouts they plucked them merrily "Do you bind roses in your hair?" They cried in scorn to Jesus there The boy said humbly "Take I pray All but the na-ked thorns away" Then of the thorns they made a crown And with rough fingers pressed it down Till on his forehead fair and young Red drops of blood like roses sprung Music video by Samantha Dolman and Ruben Uitenweerde from Open Window Insitute: School of Film Arts. Elijah Rock - Arr. Moses Hogan

Performed by the University of Pretoria Camerata, conducted by Dr. Michael Barrett. Over the course of 250 years, countless enslaved people found freedom through the coded messages in spirituals like these used in the Underground Railroad. The Underground Railroad was a network of escape routes that enslaved people used to escape to free states and Canada. This rendition by Moses Hogan is fiery with rhythm and instills a subtle beating in your heart as you listen to it. Although the original author of the words to this piece is unknown, it is a piece that reflects the true life and times of those living under slavery. May it remind us daily of a freedom that exists now because of the sacrifice of those who came before: Oh Elijah, oh Elijah Oh (Elijah rock) Elijah (Ooooh) Oh (Elijah rock) (Elijah rock) (Ooooh) Come on sister help me to pray tell me my Lord don't pass this way Elijah rock, Elijah rock Elijah rock oh, Elijah rock Elijah (Elijah rock shout shout, Elijah rock coming up loudy, Elijah rock shout shout, Elijah rock coming up the Lord) Elijah rock, Elijah rock Elijah rock oh, Elijah rock Elijah (Elijah rock shout shout, Elijah rock coming up loudy, Elijah rock shout shout, Elijah rock coming up the Lord) Elijah (Satan nothin' but a) Snake in the grass He's a conjour, he's a liar Halleluya Lord Elijah rock, Elijah rock Elijah rock oh, Elijah rock Elijah (Elijah rock shout shout, Elijah rock coming up loudy, Elijah rock shout shout, Elijah rock coming up the Lord) Elijah rock (If I could I surely would) Elijah rock (Stand on the rock where Moses stood) Elijah rock (If I could I surely would) Elijah rock (Stand on the rock where Moses stood) Music video by Samantha Dolman and Ruben Uitenweerde from Open Window Insitute: School of Film Arts.
